Vince Zampella, the head of Battlefield Studios at Electronic Arts, dropped some F-bombs during the first revelation of {連結已移除}Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer gameplay.

It was a joy to see Zampella, who has worked on some of the world’s best shooter games for decades, behave more like an authentic gamer than a company executive. After all, it’s not polite to curse in front of people. But it is a normal thing for gamers, and I laughed when I heard Zampella show his love for the game through swearing. I think the message is that it is gamers whom Zampella serves, and it is gamers whom he answers to.

Bringing Battlefield back to where it deserves to be — Rebecka Coutaz interview

EA chose to go back to work and do the necessary investment in fixing Battlefield. The result is {連結已移除}Battlefield 6, which {連結已移除}looks and plays pretty spectacular. You can hear the collective sigh of relief at EA and on Wall Street. This is probably a game that has legs, and I can see why the company put so much effort into it. As a shooter guy, I can already tell this game will be a hit.

One of the people responsible for that is {連結已移除}Rebecka Coutaz, general manager and vice president for Europe and is in charge of Criterion and Dice. Andrea Rene, a veteran podcaster and show host, interviewed Coutaz at the Battlefield Reveal this week in Los Angeles.

Coutaz has over 20 years of experience in the industry, and she was previously managing director of Ubisoft Annecy and began her career managing first-party certification for the original PlayStation. She builds empowered, inclusive teams and focuses on creative excellence. And, reporting to Battlefield Studios head Vince Zampella, she had to help get the teams back into the place where they could do their best.

Coutaz said her hope is to “bring Battlefield back to where it deserves to be.” That’s a winning quote in representing the desires of both game developers and longtime fans of the franchise who have been with it for more than 20 years.
