Biography: Salicar is the 2nd generation of Iberian immigrants in his family. They took on the last name Gisgon from being descendents of the well-renowned Gisgon family. His father moved the family from Southeast Iberia for better profits for his trading business. The new arrivals accumalated much wealth through trade and formed strong bonds to the state and military. Salicar's father started funding his own small mercenary army to protect his ships from pirates and to assist the government in military campaigns. Salicar was the olderest of his siblings, so he was taught the ways of a good trader by his father but Salicar's ambitions for bringing glory to Carthage came into conflict with his training. He struck a deal with his father that he would be allowed to join the military as long as it didn't conflict with his trading business and that if it does, he would leave the army and take full control of the trading operations. Through many campaigns, Salicar grew into an excellent soldier and great tactician.
