Hi Gamers

It is with a heavy heart that I must let you all know that I am closing F3G.

F3G has run into to many issues with the last few giveaways, due to Steam's gifting changes.

I have battled with Steam over this for a long time and finally they have won the fight, I also heard soon it will be even harder to send gifts through Steam.

Below is a few reason number 3 pretty much sealed the deal:

1. Store purchase limits i get locked out of Steam store for a few hours if i buy to many copys of the same game known as store cool down.

2. Not able to buy and store games in my inventory they must be sent at time of purchase or you can set a date but no good for giveaways.

3. This one is the worst - Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region.
So pretty much it stops me sending thd gift to anyone with Euro as currency

This is very disappointing, and frustrating for me over the years i have put my heart into F3G alot of my giveaways were self funded and some were given to me by Dev's and publishers such as Ubisoft, EA games, SCS, Sony just to name a few.

I am still talking with Steam about it but from the reply's I get the news is not good and will only get worse as they try to target game key activation as well

The group will remain open until the end of August to give me thinking time and depending on outcome with Steam the group will be deleted

I will continue to gift games but only to the people on my friends list like i used to do before i opened the group, but sadly my friends in the EU i cannot gift to you thx to Steam changes.

It has been a pleasure giving games away to people i have enjoyed it alot especially giving games to people who cant afford games.
I have never asked for anything in return for what i do, but i am asking Steam to please reconsider the region block.

People in the group are welcome to add me as a friend i have many industry contacts and still get games for free from time to time.

Its has been a pleasure thank you all for the support

I refuse to region lock my giveaways

Here is a workaround that I have found for some situations. It may work in other situations as well, so you can try if you ever need to. At times when I was given the message that I could not purchase a gift copy and store it in my inventory, I purchased the copy and gifted it to an alt account at time of purchase. Since I did not intend to purchase the gift copy for the alt account, I simply did not accept the gift on that account. This places it back in the inventory of the account which purchased the gift copy, allowing you to gift it at a later date as we have been able to in the past.

Valve may prevent this somehow in the future (if they haven't already implemented a block on it), but if gifting is allowed and the recipient has the option to decline, something must be done with the gift purchase...so this may work for a while.

Its a real shame Steam has destroyed the gifting feature, not just for giveaways, but it also made impossible christmas or birthday gifting to steam friends if they are not in the same region.
An alternate avenue for giveaways might be Humble Store keys, or games that are on GOG, it is becoming better then Steam by the day, especially with the ever increasing restrictions here.

Thank you Mark, unfortunately most regions have this problem I live in South America are few countries that I can give a game. I am very grateful to have been part of your group.
