Upgrading Units.

The advantages of Upgrading units normally do not outweigh the cost of the upgraded unit. I will explain, when a unit is upgraded or chevroned, as others call it, it gains the stat advantages I am about to list.

+1 Moral upgrade going every other chevron, 1,3,5 etc.
+1 Melee attack and defence for every chevron Note:this does not include charge bonus, charge bonus will stay the same.
+2 Accuracy and reload skill for ranged units(ex riffle, line, militia etc)

Now to gain these advantages, let us say for a line inf that costs 740 it will cost roughly 120 to upgrade it. Now let us say u have upgraded 6 Line Infantry, costing you 820. Now, with this money one could have bought another line infantry with money 2 spare. Now u will have gained 12 extra accuracy and 12 extra reload for ur 6 line, so let us do some math. 40x6+12 = 252 Accuracy. Comparing this to 40x7=280 Accuracy, and I think you will have a winner. Reload skill comes out much the same way. For melee stats I find that line inf almost never end up in a prolonged melee with other line, and as for light goons the line already has a melee attack/defence advantage over the goons. But Moral is another thing, Units with bad moral can benefit from a moral chevron, for example units with 6 or below moral, (ie Minutemen, Militia, Long Riffles, and especially Austrian Line) Can benefit greatly from a moral chevron, simple because with that they may not rout as quickly from flanking force, or being attacked in the rear.

I find that the only real use for chevrons is if u have money left over when u r done making your army. It is up to your discretion then to chevron what u think needs better moral, or better melee stats(I only recommend melee chevroning for melee units, ie Indian rush builds or melee cav) But I would first chevron any units below 7 moral so they do not rout and induce a mass rout of my army. However do not purposely save money for chevroning units, unless the bulk of your army is below 6 moral, well in that case would say that it is a ♥♥♥♥ amry :D.
