There are two problems with the high collaboration settings, skill trees like cooking, smelting, and farming (high end) take many skill points and as u increas the collaboration lvl not only does it exponentially increase sp cost for specialties it also exponentially increases costs for lvl skills already learned. With no collaboration setting to be a competent cook that has reached end game cooking takes around 1000-2000 sp and with our current inflation that is double with high it is x8. Farmers and Smiths at high end will spend around half that. Also on the higher collaboration settings sp/day is also reduced from 2 at no collaboration to .1 on high (max collaboration setting). So you are asking people to spend weeks in real life just to do their job on the basic ends thats not including researching high end stuff and doing those said jobs.

I'd have to agree with Aramis on a few points. If the server gets reset (or we wait for the meteor impact), I'd highly recommend putting the Server Collaboration to the highest difficulty. This'll practically force people to have one specific role and stick to that Skill Tree. Yes, people prefer to be independent by nature and will do everything themselves if they are able to, selecting a group of people to socialize and work with, but for this kind of game we need everyone to work with each other.

i do feel that we need to heavily discuss this before we decide to restart, becouse many people who have created a big impact on the current world have already said that they will not join in on the next world if there is a wipe, which would not be very fun. I have grown relationships with multiple players, and i would hate to lose any becouse majority wanted a wipe. it should still come down to a vote though, and hopefully we cn get certain people to change their minds, but a wipe over all would be beneficial for the server.
(also, sorry, i got the same prompt on length :P)

I do think a server wipe would help and make it so we can plan for things ahead on day zer, such as where districts are and saving room for new players as they join. i have noticed that due to the un-specific rule of "settle near the lake" it seems everyone feels they have to live within eye sight of water, which i dont think i meant at all. basically the main village area is getting quite cramped, and the area around my house i was planning on possibly saving for a friend is now entirly taken, so that is not an option for me anymore.

I've posted a longer response in the discussions, because it was too long for here, but in summary I can agree with starting the server for technical reasons. And if we do so we should certainly organize things a bit better. But we should not do so simply to make the game easier.

Ah (sorry for the triple post but i don't think we can edit comments...), and I also feel bad about the unique currency being given from the start, tbh. I really do think Credits are something great in the game, prioritizing equivalent exchange and mutual service over simple coin hoarding (and I say that as the dude hoarding a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ingots).

Anyway, no matter what, I think i'll stay and see, you're doing a nice job anyway. These are just my 2 gold monies

3) I sincerely think that gifting SP is not that great. I mean, early game skills cost basically nothing. Would be weird to have a city full of greatmasters in masonry / carpentry on day 0... And I'd also even add that if you make a server without a meteor, SLOWING the SP gain (0,5x, both from food and houses) might be the only way to avoid quick boredom and let people do something else that grinding stuff again and again and again.

(This is my humble opinion of "semi-competitive" player)

Interesting.

If you decide to start over, though, there are however some precautions to take:
1) Please do it a friday evening, or a saturday. Nothing more depressing that coming from work on a week day, realize that there was a wipe, and that you are 12 hours "behind". I know that might seems silly, but the "Discovery/Conquest" part of the game is something I do like.

2) Consider putting the "Collaboration" setting of the server to the maximum (high ? very high ?). That'll greatly increase the cost of learning new specializations. So people will try to collaborate more, instead of trying to do everything by themselves. Especially with the player base we have now ! Medium collaboration is supposed to be for 3-10 "regular" players, I think.
