In the Year of Our Maker, 1258

Historically the peninsula of Norskeg has been under the control of the jarls of Wercheg with very frequent infighting and division along territorial/familial lines. The last independent jarl was Asbjorn Eiriksson who was killed by the Sargothians and replaced by Svengal; however, the Sargothians and their vassals struggled to assert their control over the rest of Norskeg which fragmented into the three godord of Skali, Odoso, and Ruvar, ruled at the time by the godar Targeir, Gunnar, and Sverre respectively.

Targeir Bjornesson was the most powerful godi and a kinsman of Asbjorn, also belonging to the Jarnvidring clan. Despite not helping Asbjorn against the Sargothians, he named himself as his successor and made plans to retake Wercheg. Hostilities broke out between him and Gunnar, who belonged to the Ulfing clan, as he too claimed the jarldom for himself.

With the sanction of King Bjarke of Tihr, Edvard was authorized to lead an army of a thousand men to convert the locals and establish a beachhead in Norskeg. His success would vastly exceed Bjarke's expectations, as Edvard managed to capture Skali while outnumbered and form an alliance with Gunnar, who agreed to convert to Makersdom and swear fealty to Bjarke. Targeir was slain in battle and Tihrite rule was nominally established over half of Norskeg, overjoying Bjarke and enraging Tovar. Shortly after Bjarke joined Edvard and Gunnar with a larger army, promising to make Gunnar jarl instead of the still-pagan Svengal. Concurrently, the Sargothians and their Werchegian allies managed to defeat Sverre in battle, who afterwards swore fealty to Svengal and Tovar and was allowed to keep his position. All of Norskeg was split into two camps.

The Tihrites and Sargothians fought for several months over Norskeg until the fighting gradually petered out with both sides agreeing to the modern borders. The Sargothians made some very minor gains by taking the town of Agnarshall from Gunnar but overall failed in advancing their claim to the rest of Norskeg. In 1234 Bjarke would later seize Tunhoya Castle from the Sargothians in Norskeg, but was soon after obliged to return it. While generally more zealous than the Sargothians, the Tihrites sometimes supported pagans who opposed Svengal and did not pressure Gunnar tremendously to convert the rest of his people.

As of 1258 Norskeg is currently split into these following factions (all of whom swear their allegiance to either Tihr or Sargoth):

-The effective leader over Tihrite Norskeg and former regent to the kingdom during Magnus' minority. He is a renowned and ruthless commander who is hated both domestically and beyond. He was a close friend of Bjarke and led the Tihrites in the Sixth Crusade, he also constructed many castles all over Norskeg (out of brick, stone, wood, etc).
