The Public Steam FanGroup of the movie District 9.

District 9 is a movie set almost 30 years ago in Johannesburg, South Africa about our first contact with non humans. Instead of trying to make peace with these visitors to our planet we take posesion of their ship and make them live in slum like conditions until they give us their advanced technologies. These slum areas were named "District 9".

Both Humans and Non Humans are welcome.

If you are a human you must follow these rules:
1. Report any suspisious or agressive non human activity to the Multi National United (MMU) or in our comments section.

District 9: DVD and Blu-Ray Release Date Anounced

It was recently announced that District 9 will be releasing to DVD and Blu-Ray slightly after christmas. December 29th to be exact. Make sure to get some money ready for the occasion (or trade in some of your lamer gifts).

About a week ago I watched the highly anticipated movie District 9. Me and Ghost went for a 10:00 PM showing, the movie lasted past 12 in the morning, and let me tell you it was worth the loss of sleep. The movie is great.

The story (featuring aliens taking refuge on earth but face oppression from the humans) kept you intrested all the way through and provokes some thought. The way the movie is presented (more of a documentary then an action movie) is unique and fresh, it helps seperate this movie from the other good summer blockbusters. The action is very cool and good camera angles were chosen to showcase these cool action scenes. This was one of the few movies that wasn't afraid to be extremely violent and gory and more then a few times people explode leaving nothing but blood and guts (some of it on the cammera).

Of course no review of the movie should forget about D9's special effects. They are worthy of particular mention because all of the movie's CGI is life like. The aliens (nicknamed the Prawns) look like they are actually there. Not some computer created monster but actually there. All the effects are photo realistic all throughout. The characters are intresting (especialy the main characters Wicus and Christopher Johnson).

All and all it is just a good movie. If you watch one movie this year make sure that it is District 9.
