Northern Darkness

Formed in 1986 in Kolbotn, Norway by Nocturno and Fenriz as a death metal band known as Black Death. In 1991 they embraced influences from Bathory and Celtic Frost, turning into a black metal duo. After releasing A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Under a Funeral Moon and Transilvanian Hunger they were cemented as one of the leaders of the Norwegian black metal scene. Today Darkthrone mainly plays tradional heavy metal and speed metal
