For those who don't know what happened on April 8

Widespread talk about the exploit began on April 7. It's unclear how long the issue has been active in the game before that. After entering "cl_ent_bbox *" in the console, players were able to see object lines through textures similar to wallhack cheats.

Then, on the night of April 8, CS2 devs pushed a small update that quietly patched the bug. It was first noticed by users on Reddit. The exploit was removed, but the aftermath wasn't over.

FACEIT stepped in and issued two-year bans to everyone who abused the bug—over 400 players in total. Valve, on the other hand, didn’t take any action on their end. Similar commands were accidentally available during the CS2 beta, and the devs eventually patched those as well.

Apparently, typing a random console command for one day is now worthy of the same punishment as full-on cheating. (except if you have some admin friends)

Many pros, analysts, casters, and streamers supported us and told the FACEIT admins that their decision was absurd, but FACEIT didn't reverse it.
