Hope GK4 gets made. Discworld is great (never played Noir) but i already played them and anyone still can. So i prefer something new, if bureocracy allows to buy the games then welcome.
Not EA. First bough by Vivendi then mergeg into Activision Blizzard, both gave licenses to game developers to make fan games. One of them Phoenix Online with Jane Jansen got the license from Activision to make the 20th Anniversary of GK1.
Now it's Microsoft and i would've thought that it's impossible now, but if Jane Jensen is speaking of GK4 she must be in talks with MS (havent't watched the interview yet)
A new Gabriel Knight game would be a splendid thing. But, as you said Mariano_ag, Jane might be in talks with MS, but this Monster will have to be very impressed with the story offered to it to invest in such a game. Companies like MS are interested in supporting games with high profit expectations.

They care for profit as you said or eliminating the competence or buying out something so no one else has it. The story could be crap for all they care.
Luckily they don't have to invest just charge them for a license and a percentage of the sales.
The story about Discworld seems to have stagnated. No more news since then. Developer's whihsful thinking, I suppose.
As for GK, I really hope they don't care about the story, but at least I think we can trust Jane J.'s imagination, after all she's a writer and a has a mind for good puzzles.
As for eliminating possiblle competitors, I really never understood that, after all P&C games, could never compete with the highly profitable games that we see, mainly, in the most known award events. Rarely we see a P&C or other minor games (being sarcastic here, of course) being mentioned or receiving an award of some kind. There are no Competitors!! But I understand you: better to keep it close to you, than in somebody else's hands, just in case.
Well, let's hope for the best and wait. I would place my bet on GK, rather than Discworld, but we never know.
It hasn't even been 2 weeks, give it time. Also from the update to the article from Terry Pratchett's daughter although not confrimed the Game IP might have been sold to Sony.
That's for the rerelease, but for a new game she has the rights for the characters. sadly "no one has come to us with the right ideas and the resources to actually make it happen"
Interesting to learn from the interview that Jane Jensen has a degree in Computer Science and was a programmer for many years before being in Sierra and writing.
I was just talking about MS mentality nothing related to P&C.
Apparently it's easier than Activision and Robert Holmes said there's people from Sierra at MS.
And before those 2 Larry games was Larry reloaded, in the (near) future the still to be released game from the 2 guys from Andromeda that are working with the Williams. Also Return to Monkey Island which came with the insinuation of a new Maniac Mansion (but i'm losing hope on that one)
Yes I saw the Sony part of the interview. Don't know what I rather have: a corporation or THE Firm 🤔
As for JJ having a degree in CS, I knew that, way back in the 90s. I was very surprised, also back then, when I discovered she was, above all, a writer.
Sorry, I misunderstood that. Should we say then that MS and alike have a Scrooge mentality!
That's what a thought.
Thank you. Finding this out was a real thrill. I really hope that it will bare fruit.
You know, I'm desperate for good games and the result is that I'm replaying Black Mirror. So, a new GK would be a blast.
I'll try and keep you all posted.
Sony hands down. And i hate Sony.
Scrooge wasn't inherently bad.
Well, their appliances are not bad. My tv, dvd and VHS players are Sony😏
Yeah, you're quite right, poor guy. Then "penny-pinchers" 🤑
In the past the CRT TV where the best but expensive, now Samsung and LG are better and cheaper. I prefer Playstation over Xbox but with the price in Argentina and Gamepass now i'd be inclined for Xbox (but i don't want a console)
There are many things to hate about Sony like the Sony/BMG rootkit.
Neither they tend to spend a lot of money buying companies and then destroying their products or doing nothing with them.
By the way i don't hate everything about MS. I love their Keyboards, they are the best.
I never had or intend to have a PS or a Xbox. My PC is enough for me. As for the rootkit, unfortunately, I don't think it's the only one doing that, nowadays.
Oh, I don't hate them neither, I just don't like their overall concept and this goes for other similar corporations. They, and I mean an individual or a small group, may start in a "garage", but they end up being cads. I was ok with them when they kept eating each other and not us, but as all of us have been witnessing lately, the amount of layoffs happening in these corporations is behond acceptable.
Well, we diverged from two Fantastic games to politics and if there's something I don't like is politics. Unfortunately, it is part of everyday's life 😑
