Some upgrades - Please help

I built a PC a about a year and a half ago and I have loved it, I played all my favourite games from PS4 on it and more - however now I would like to throw some upgrades in. Right now I have:

i5 6600k
Cyrorig C7 air cooler
16gb corsair ddr4 vengeance ram
Zotac 1070 mini
120gb SSD
1tb hybrid
2tb hdd
MSI pro series motherboard
Phanteks P400 case - white

I was thinking of upgrading the CPU and GPU - buying a new motherboard and getting a liquid cooler. I enjoyed Zotacs 1070 mini as it has not caused me any problems and was very easy to overclock so I would like to buy the 2070 from zotac - this time with triple fans. For the processor I was thinking the Intel i7 8700k - however I am open to suggestions. I was thinking the h110i from corsair for water cooling however I feel a little spooked putting a water cooler in and I'm not completely sure why. I am not sure for the motherboard - I would like something decent and somewhat cheap. Thanks - I'm open to suggestions.

If you game at 1080p, stay with the 1070, if not, look in to upgrading to a 1080 (Or 1070 ti, they are $300~ on ebay and have the same performance) Also, if you are going with intel, go for the 9700k, since it is the most recent. Don't get a liquid cooler unless you want to overclock. Unless you have a 4k monitor, don't get anything from the 2000 series of GPUs. (Then again, I am a bit biasd.) Wait for Zen 2 (Not the 2000 series of ryzen, the 3000), if the rumers are true, it will provide better performance then intel's offerings.
