How good does that SFM screenshot look? The model might look excellent in-game, but if they can't give it a good promotional image on the workshop, people are quick to downvote. I know, some people on an article about 6 digit incomes on the workshop were complaining that top item makers like Neo Dement were making easy money, and that all they did was sit at the computer for *a few* hours. You have to factor in the SFM screenshots, all of the modeling, the concept, the texturing, and sometimes even video demos. If my hats had sfm screenshots, I'm sure they would be 10x as popular, as opposed to a hat made by someone like NeoDement or BANG! but with only a single screenshot

I saw a first submit on the workshop called the KA-BOOM which looked like a black proof-of-purchase with a fuse. I upvoted it, and then noticed the comment of a guy saying, "lol u kno how to retecksture a proof of purchase and den add fuse 2 it, u suck, downvote" and knowing the time and effort that was most likely spent in that first item, I was very upset at him. Just a question: Do you guys think that you can only really appreciate all the time and effort that goes into modeling if you've modeled yourself? A lot of the times, I look at a hat or pair of shoes that is barely getting any attention, and say, "wow, how did he get that curve?" What do you think?

no, when you make a jacket for example, you do it like if it was a normal hat, but the difference is that with a hat normally you apply all the vertices to one bone (bip_head)

For a jacket, you have to assign each group of vertices to their bone so it moves along with the body

Would someone kindly explain what you need to do in order to make a clothes item? Do you need to make individual pieces and then attach them to their respective bone? Are there any extra steps? Is it just like making a hat but with multiple parts?

I want to be able to attach my hat to a character in hlmv, along with other hats, preferably with standing animations. How do I do it? ;_;

Same thing happened to me when I first tried. If you're sure you got all of your import files deleted (and I mean the .zip file folder locations AND the .mdl previews) then also try renaming your item title. However, the importer may still remember the previews, I think.

For example, when I test import the items to check in mdl, I give it an intentionally fake name so I know it's not my final (Castlington). Once I know the parts are working, then I name the full file what I intend. I suspect it's not just the .zip files that matter, but those previews as well, though. For you, the renaming it (Cast_Away vs. The_Cast_Away) may jump past the bug.

Hopefully I'm not misinterpreting HellJumper's suggestion for step one... I was thinking he was referring to the file part names being imported renamed. We may both be referring to the title of the .zip. ;)
