It's me, Chris. Now known as AxeChris.

As I write this, it's 2 AM on October 3rd. It's a bit hard to think clearly because of that, but I wanted to write something after I was contacted regarding a thing and it made me think.

I'd like to think of Babel being not particularly... Dead, per se. I always think back on it and how I wanted to expand the idea of Babel Industries in such a way that it'd cover all sorts of media. Sweps, Stories, maybe even Games and SFM movies. But alas, those daydreams never really got anywhere and I stopped becoming interested in the creation of SWEPs.

At the time, I believe the most popular thing in the Garry's Mod workshop was a whole bunch of FNaF playmodels or just playermodels in general. Wasn't really sure why, but I remember feeling waaaay overshadowed by all of that and felt that perhaps it was time for me to stop. I started seeing sweps as just another way to fancy up a bullet hose, making sure they all had the bells and whistles that the original skin creator envisioned, even going as far as to making promotional material for the weapon itself.

Maybe it was the OICW secondary fire code I utilized from someone else's Swep in a desperate effort to get it to work and facing the backlash from it. Iunno.

I apologize for giving everyone the cold shoulder and silent treatment over the years, but I've found myself moving to other forms of content creation. It might seem odd to a majority of you, but I've found myself in the midst of creating content for the online MMO, MapleStory. I've been learning a lot when it comes to graphic design and visual presentation, but I couldn't have started that off without knowing what I did by making Babel Industries promotional videos and images.


So is Babel technically dead? I'd like to think it isn't. Am I producing new sweps and swep updates/fixes? Unfortunately, no. It's been so long that I wouldn't really know how to wrap my head around the newest version of the swep engine the latest ones are currently on. If they're still firing and killing NPCs, then I'm glad. If Maple stuff ever goes downhill and I'm left with nothing else, then I'll see what I can do about comin' back to Garry's Mod.
