NEW: Rats2 Rug + Rats3 connected.

I've been followin this ARG for weeks. I've been following things very closely. I speculate that there are many secrets, on different Contracts and/or Days. It is however unknown whether they are in or by how much they are in the game; no one but Almir knows.

With that said I think I've got one of the ones for RATS down. Several clues have been posted in soooo many places for so long I can't really keep track of where everything is. What I have noted is unsorted in a 20 page text file. I'll try to keep on point and not meander ramble as I tend to.

It was said that what was hidden is "right in front of you", and you must "Play the mission in a way NO ONE EVER WOULD." I think I had an almir quote for this part, but can't find the tab I had it in... Maybe it was the AppleJuice/RedNavi rambling.

Anyway, I have had a piece of the puzzle that I fit together, but a lot of good a corner does you when you don't have the box to cheat with. Then someone mentioned wanting what the PD:TH ARG had, how there was the acheivement (hidden/tester IIRC) to help point people in the right direction. I heard that thought a week or more ago. Also heard talk from people who supposedly found "The Thing", the only ones I'm counting as far as any posted thoughts are Almir statements and answers.

YAY I FOUND THEM:
Antrix: The Thing is not a Thing for the Thing is You
Almir: Someone give this man a hand.

Claspacus: It was a joke on I am 12 what is this.
Almir: This is too much.

Scythe: The Thing cant be founded.
It finds u instead.
Everywhere.
Almir: Scythe has seen the light.

Not sure if they all can apply to this particular one, but these seem the most useful of any of the hints so far.


Just this morning I finally hit level 100. Nothing more to get (have all the weapon parts I could want, several infamous masks and parts), but then I remember the ACHEIVEMENTS! I hadn't finished a few, such as the ones listed, and thought about PD:TH acheivement comment.

Caribbean Pirate
On day 2 of the Rat job, bring additional meth bags to the trade, but steal your payment instead.
Short Fuse
On day 3 of the Rat job, get away with 7 bags without defusing any bombs.

SPECULATION: What if these, and the other more specific, difficult acheivements are hints for what triggers must be completed? I thought there was one for making 7 bags on day 1 but I don't see it. I know when you do Hector will say "Are you actually Heisenburg?" or somesuchthing similar as a special dialog line acknowledging you have done that. I had more to add during this part, however was sidetracked looking things up for this for 20 minutes and forgot it.

Anyway, you make 7 bags when you only 'need' 3 (so why would anyone do that?). So you bring the 7 bags to the trade, but you steal your payment, drugs, and the intel. (Why would you do that?) So you then don't use the intel and grab the 7 (perhaps more, explained below [EDIT: Forgot to explain below) bags and let the bus blow the rest. No one ever doing a sane normal rational strategy would ever do this on any playthrough as it breaks both sped run and money run dogma.

Past that, I'm not sure at all. An Enforcer with ICTV can walk around in that fire for some time, perhaps enough to trigger something else inside now flaming bus?

NOT SPECULATION FOR ONCE I PROMISE (OK WELL IT KINDA IS BUT SUPER SERIOUSLY PAY ATTENTION. (WHY AM I YELLING?)):

This is that peice I said I found earlier. I have kept up with everything on reddit and hundreds of pages on steam and steamgroups for 3-4 weeks now, and have not seen someone make this specific connection yet it seems. (Not that I know what to do with it either.)

This rug on RATS2, I am sure we all have seen it, the one that looks JUST LIKE the PD:TH ARG rug but longer? (PD:TH ARG Rug, AKA BO2 Theater rug, was 4x6, and this one is of the same design but a 4x10.)

I've counted the spots where it is possible to have a suitcase spawn.

The first two seats (as you enter from the front of the bus and pass the clothes),

and the two at the very back of the bus (Apparently I forgot to take this picture.) do not have cases spawn in them. (Also, there is an odd red mark that is there EVERY time I get on the bus, right in the bottom center of the back wall in the last picture.)

2 10 spot rows of suitcases. The first and last rows are empty, just like the unmarked "border" squares on the rug. The inner 2x8 rows apply to the remaining seats where cases can spawn.

Why is this not speculation? Aside from the numbers matching, look at this picture here:

(BTW FYI the open case in this shot would be the case opposite the 'missing' case.)

Notice something odd? Something off about that picture? Below is a picture of the front door of the bus:

Notice it now? The side door, for no rational, explained, or obvious reason is wood. Now look back at the rug. Notice the ONLY PEICE OF FURNITURE in all 4 apparements that isn't strait and neat happens to cover the exact square that corresponds to the side entrance? And that they both happen to be made of the SAME WOOD? And that this gives an offset 'KEY' position for the irregular and asymmetrical pattern?

The RATS2 rug is the only 4x10 rug in the game, BO2 has 4x6 and 4x8.

The numbers fitting would be good speculation. However, the only out-of-place furnishing corresponding to the out-of-place enterance with matching wood on the very next map also? They are absolutely related.

SPECULATIONS AGAIN: Applejuice seems like a troll that got bored, as I had seen the hints he is hinting about elsewhere, nothing new so far. There has to be something more though. What are the marked areas? The cases? [EDIT: Cases you are to steal from? (7 for acheivement, 10 on rug. Maybe you don't make it off the bus with 7 but on the bus in those spots with 10? Perhaps defuse 10, then place and blow them all with one of the remain cases?] The roof lights/accents? On the bus, under the bus? Add more C4?

You steal (MENDAX) from the the gansters. You are cheating death (with your king on C4 in the pic) by being blown up in a bus full of C4 (once its time has run out) and surviving (or not, maybe being picked up from incap or traded for later is the "cheating death instead) Do whatever right, and you get lucky under the grid (loot under the marked grid (bus seat) area).



For what or why? *shrug* I can't even get so far in as to test this as the ~20 people I have on friends who play this game are either lvl 100 and/or tired of playing, or just don't care about the ARG anymore and dont even want to help me speculate. Mostly why I'm posting on here for once.

There needs to be a number of C4 activated, which might be connected to the rug, which opens maybe a panel in the bus with; intel that unlocks a 4th day, an 8th bag worth alot and really heavy, really anything.
This most likely trigger through anything that could happen in the first two days.

If anyone wants to try this I want in.

You're reaching. We have no idea if the marks are open cases, C4 cases, maybe-no-money cases, places money needs to be laid before setting off the bus, etc. I can say with almost certainty that there wouldn't be an 'extra day' to any heist (The map would be found in the source.).

You could take 8 bags if you want and still get short fuse. You might be able to take 10 or 12 if you had enough fast hands and broke the windows out first so you could get them out of the bus as fast as possible.

7 bags of meth is just a conjecture I've pondered the past couple nights. The “Do something you usually don’t” hint, if at all true for this particular secret, would be limited in scope. How many 'win' scenarios are there on each day? 2, MAYBE 3?

In decending order of likelihood (most common methods that is):

Day 1
1: You make no meth,
2: 3 meth, or
3: ALL THE METH.

Next in day 2,
1: You steal the intel, having brought nothing
2: You trade and leave quick and painless,
3: You trade then steal the meth back (Pirate acheivement),
4: Maybe you do have a 4th of 'bring meth and don't even start the trade before stealing intel'
5. You trade extra meth, but do not take the bonus cash. (thanks to Paxton-176 for that)

Finally Day 3,
1. Kill Mendozas and leave.
2. Kill Mendozas, grab money (7+ bag, no defuse cheivo) and leave with blown bus.
3. Kill Mendozas, Defuse, and take all the money
4. Defuse 10 bags of money (open marked cases?), take them off the Bus, (place them all back in the Bus per day2 rug?), (possibly do it with (at least 1) Mendoza still alive? (Detained or not?)), then blow the bus with its C4 and leave. Though this would be little different from any other failed money/defuse run.

EDIT::: 5: Get a mendoza off the bus, detain, then protect, him so it blows (triggering the "aww you blew it!" dialog from hector) BEFORE Hector give his "Thats a clean sweep, all the Mendozas are dead!" line. Possibly combine with 2?

So if you have to do one of these outcome on each day, and most of the outcomes are already done by hundreds, or thousands each day... It would strike me that the least likely must be correct since all others would be 'eliminated' through commonality (Occams' Club if you will.). Unless the "secret" here is just a small one and is independant of star rating, difficulty, or win states and just requires a specifc 'code' to unlock.

That just doesn't seem to fit though. How could something so hunted after, even if this turns out as just the 'smallest' rewarding secret, be a letdown? If people find this blows they wont bother with the rest, and the ARG is the whole point of end game (max level) replayability, and thus a persistant community required for a (good) multiplayer game, and player retention to sell DLC to as DLC has a much smaller market than the game itself, all goes right out the window.

(I know you'll read this Almir, I know it. Better hotfix a 'glitch' if the prize sucks :P)

So if the best at the game are going to be the ones to hunt it, most level 100 by now, and are doing it for just the sake of beating the puzzle, etc... Why not give them a real hard challenge and make it LOLWUT NOWAI difficult?

OR, even if it isn't that hard why would doing it a harder way make it not work if you still complete the requisit steps?

TL;DR; Man up and try the way I suggested in my first posts. 7 bags of meth, trade, steal back, then don't use intel to defuse and grab 8 bags. What could be more difficult to acheive during this heist with the given objectives and their limitations? Besides, maybe those really hard acheivements are there for a reason?

Both good ideas, maybe "Speed" runs they took literally and we have to Neo our way under the bus and defuse a bigger bomb :D.

Yup, that was my "Speed" run and "Neo" (Keeanu Reeves) refference :P. Also, try looking up. Several of the non-official tippers have listed "Look up" as a hint. Try the roof panels in the bus (Above the seats like airplane carry on stowage.), Try the lights in the ceiling, the back wall (An odd redmark always seems to be in bottom middle of that back wall.), the back of the bus where the engine should be, the luggage stowage on the outside bottom between the wheels.

And the shirts. I always thought it odd a bus full of men had hanging shirts like that, why not pack them when you're being extradicted? Make really good and sure you saw the shirts real nice.

i tested the pattern from day 2 of rats on day 3 on overkill. turns out there are six money cases on the left side of the buss and 8 on the right. THey are also not parallel to each other making it difficut to see them in the way that he pattern appears on day two. I think there might be a diffferent number of cases on proverkill however. We can do this.Im also going to start looking up a lot more often with all these vertical hints.

There is an achievement where you need to complete garage escape with 8 bags. So the only heist that can accomplish it is Rats with garage escape between day 2 and 3

For make it you need the 7 bags of drugs at day 1 and at least a bag of money from day 2 (so you need to take back also drug bags), and be lucky to trigger the garage escape

You can also make this achievement with Watchdogs (after pt 1, you got 9-12 bags) Framing frame (after pt 1, if you got 8 or 9 paintings), the jewelery store (with max jewelery) and even all the bak heists (if you open the deposit boxes). So i don't think this is rats' related...

That last part's not necessarily true, I've gotten it before and never cooked more than 3 bags of meth.


I can't remember what heist it was from, but I want to say it was a new Nightclub that had 4 money and 5-6 coke bags.

In origin only rats was the heist that you can use for that achievement.

@Sethoria: In my experience I've never got the garage escape in other heists (jewelry and bank got caffe, park and street but no garage), and watchdogs hasn't any escape at all so you can't use that heist
Now maybe nightclub can done it (as Vladimir said, but I can't confirm with my experience).

guys, there are locations marked on the map in the minivideo before regular proverkill bank heist. Maybe locatons to stand like the overdrill? i need some help testing it out though. im uploarding the pic now.
