I don't believe so, but I don't play as many single player games. But I for one don't mind more story telling and lore development in games. I love reading through the stuff.

Infested Terran from Starcraft. Bascially Terrans are humans in space who got cut off from a highly advanced space misson who ended up in the Koprulu sector. In which Starcraft takes place. The zerg is a hivemind like race led by the Overmind. (Now Sarrah Kerrigan, Queen of Blades) who want to use Terran for their physic potental as powerful physics. The virus was meant to assimlate those infected into the Zerg hivemind, nothing more. But ended up making them mindless drones. Since they couldn't access the physic power that was also supposed to be brought out by the infection cause of this, the project was considered a failure. But it still worked on by the Zerg.
