Because you and your teammate are still vulnerable to getting killed regardless, especially against a team who can keep apart and target you accordingly.

Invulnerability can do so much for your team in comparison. Besides, since you are only allowed one medic for each team, having any other type of medigun can be seen as wasting a player slot.
