If that's the case, why not also ban anything that can be used for a weapon? Let's start with knives, the most obvious culprit. Next would come heavy objects, because they can be used to bash open skulls. Soon enough, were all living in foam buildings, eating government issued food through a tube.

Banning guns doesnt stop the actual problem, people killing people.

Don't want to get too involved in this, but there's a difference between an eating utensil and a tool made with killing in mind.

There are different kinds of guns too. The ones made for mass killing are already illegal.

When guns are harder to get, stabbings increase. People will always find the easiest way to kill other people. If knives were gone, you could expect screwdriver related killings to increase.
