Quake 1, my personal favorite in the series.

Doom 1 and Doom 2 could also work, I do play on Zandronum once in a while.

Q1 is my favorite too. Still wish they'd make a real sequel to it and stop all this strogg BS.

That's kind of the point. Some people have played roguelikes for decades and never beaten them. That's the type of game that Diablo-style ARPGs draw inspiration from. You want a casual feature, so you can beat a hardcore difficulty. Just play on the difficulty that's suited for your style of play. You know, the ones where any sensible build is viable. There's no shame in that at all.

If they wanted a "non-cusual" game, they can very well opt to not respec their character at all. Being able to respect all but masteries and attributes is often discussed in that community, possibly with the majority wanting that changed. Hardly fair for a patch to render a certain play or build useless, to the point you'd have to start all over again.

I personally expect the PvE to be completely unfair at the highest difficulty in a Diablo-style ARPG.
