Yami is way better than Yugi, that's for sure. But when you find the main character likeable in the first episode, it says a lot.
I've personally never found Yami likeable, he's alright at best.

Yami mind broke Kaiba in the very first ep of season 0. Instant likability.

I find it to be refreshing actually, having watched the original Duel Monsters, the main character in VRAINS is actually interesting, has some enjoyable qualities and is more mature, whereas in DM Yugi's too childish, which I couldn't stand. The art and animation is good enough, the OP is great with having TOMMY as the singer and the ED is neat.
The MC is enough for me to be interested in the series.

It's true, it doesn't need a good GPU at all. It only needs a good one if you use a bunch of shader mods. Lots of RAM lets you load it more terrain so you don't keep getting pop-in though.
