It's also important to know if the knife can hold, or even just take, an edge. If you're considering carrying it or using it for defense, you should really make sure the quality is at least decent. And if you don't know how to sharpen then make sure that it it comes with a decent edge already on it. I'd recommend going to a specialty store like knifecenter.com and looking at the reviews for a knife (or a similar knife if they don't carry the exact one you're looking at) before purchasing one off eBay. Unless you're only interested in one for display purposes.

I'm quite sure none of my shotguns were made in china thanks to section 922(r). And knowing what kind of steel your knives are made of is very important if you don't want them to, say, snap in half when you need them most. Here's a tip: If it just says "440 stainless", it's literally made of shit.
