What constitutes a bad story?
Trying too hard.

This is something a lot of amateur writers suffer from. They try waaay to hard, fill their stories with a bunch of shit, stick in the most advanced words they know for no reason, try to be overly dramatic, etc. Writing isn't supposed to be about that; it's supposed to flow, to tell a story in a fun, engaging way.

Don't try too hard. Just do.
