It was funded with a LOT of money (120 million), singleplayer has been delayed, a messy Kickstarter campaign that ended in refunds or something like that.

The game actually looks pretty good, its development is just messy. I haven't been following it heavily, though. There's probably more.

The Star Citizen dev is Chris Roberts. Derek Smart was a notrious developer active from the 90s and early 2000s, now he spends his days trolling the internet and attacking all criticism of him on it. Dino hasn't a clue.
