Can't speak for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, but Star Wars: Republic Commando wasn't that great a FPS to be honest. FTL, you will either love or hate it, I guess it depends if you like roguelikes. It's, IMO, the best roguelike there is.

I love Luftrausers. You can give the free flash version a go. It gives you an idea of the mechanics of that game. Don't like it? Game probably not for you.
