Great Depression hurt Europe just as much as the US, including Germany. The German economy was still fragile up until WW2. The Nazis drove Germany to record levels of debt before war broke out.

Granted that they recovered afterwards, but only because the war ended.

Economists still debate wheter or not FDR's Keynesian recovery program helped or not, but there is no disputing that the New Deal led to the US's most productive period in history.

And while it seemed like our economic revival came from the Government increasing tax rates, it actually came from the lack of it; being that they made plenty of use from loopholes.

Not sure about this, I know this is exactly how many of Britain's Carribean tax-havens came into existence though.
