It's supposedly based on Dungeons & Dragons. However, I've never played Dungeons & Dragons so I can't say for sure.

Yes, it's based off the Forgotten Realms D&D setting. The same world in Baldurs Gate & Icewind Dale, though not the same rulesets.

Also, am I the only one who didn't particularly care for the Doom soundtrack? It worked well for the game, but it's just a dull slog and most of the tracks sound very samey.

The online could have MMO-like features, depending on the game being hosted. I didn't play online much, I normally just played the single-player official campaigns and community created modules. EA turned off the MP servers a couple of years ago, I think there's some workarounds online.

If anyone is interested in giving it a go, ignore the bad main campaign, play the Shadows of Undrentide campaign, and export your character to Hordes of the Underdark.

Yeah, the primary campaigns are made for single player in mind, same with most of the player-created modules.

It was a pretty revolutionary game for its time, the toolset was powerful and you could make epic adventures for one player, for a group, or for public games. In MP, the host could take on the role of Dungeon Master, and play out a story for for others to follow. But, I only really played it for single player to be honest.

Weird that you want him in any game. Unless you're planning to stick him in a pool and remove the ladder, I understand.
