If you really have nothing to do when waiting, type gameserverbrowser on console, look for a quick game. You will be automatically redirected if they found a game for you.
As for gamemodes, pick anything you like, most gamemodes are cool for me .

Forcing you to use a matchmaker instead of the server browser, and I don't mean the legacy one. It still takes a good 2-3 minutes longer to get into a game if you're lucky and play a popular gamemode
