Tbh the silliest thing about Christianity is that Jesus is always depicted as white, considering he was an arabic Jew.

Anyway, yea, the Old Testament is mostly poetry with a few historical accounts, whilst the New Testament is almost entirely historical accounts on the life of Jesus Christ and his disciples, Proverbs being... Proverbs, just morals for life.

Atheists tend to make out the Bible to be extremely silly but we know that many of the people depicted within it walked the earth, including Jesus, we just cannot confirm that everything in the Bible is factual because honestly it's not ALL factual, we're talking ancient monks and philosophers here, the very first chapter, Genesis, is just mythology.
Jesus being depicted as white, I imagine, is just the product of medieval artists portraying everyone in the Bible as being white and dressed in contemporary clothing.

What I find absolutely hilarious is that, even though Jesus' existence is confirmed by Josephus, people have actually tried to counter that by saying that Josephus never existed.

And I think that one of the biggest problems of determining Christian doctrines and belief is that we don't know how much of it we're supposed to take literally. Like you said, not everything in there is 100% factual, contrary to most churches' doctrines.
Tbh some of today's worst, most scientifically illiterate, hateful denominations like Pentecostals and Baptists, were actually the intellectual churches back in their prime time, the leaders of the Original Baptist church taught that a day to God is over a thousand years, and then the Creationists and Zionists infiltrated the church and now they're what they are today.
