The mafia was the name of the original Italian crime organization and they were so influential in the criminal world that mafia can mean any organized criminal syndicate that is large and influential enough.
For instance, the Yakuza are basically the Japanese mafia. The Irish Mob is the Irish mafia, and so on.

The fact that the main character is basically heading over multiple mafias combined into one super-organization is awesome to me.

I plan on getting it especially since I like the premise, it looks like the map is gonna be pretty freaking big and I like the brutality of the excution kills. Also, I played Mafia 2 and loved it.

tbh more hyped for Watch_Dogs 2
And Dishonored 2
And BF1

Maybe, not I'll end up waiting for a lot of user reviews to come out to see how well it runs to avoid pre-order and release pitfalls. I loved the second one so I'm hopeful the third one can deliver as well. *crosses fingers*
