I just want to remind people that blocking highways is an illegal form of protest.
In the US, taking a hostage is a federal crime.

The definition of hostage taking is seizing or holding someone for the fulfillment of a condition.

It doesn't matter if you are some masked guy with a gun holding someone in a dark room for political change or if you are a college student holding someone on a highway for political change, you are still taking a hostage by definition, which is illegal.

You want to start off slowly, as if you're waiting for them to step out of the way. They'll inevitably start surrounding you at this point.

Then it's just a matter of waiting for one of them to damage your window. The second that happens, you floor it and hit as many of them as possible.
They are holding you hostage, it doesn't matter how aggressively they do it, the fact is that they are doing it.

You have the right to retaliate to being held hostage.

Does that mean we could just drive by and shoot them?

Legally, you can defend yourself, but you can't exaggerate.

Slowly driving ahead until people move away (and not stopping if they don't move away) could be legal, but it might depend on the jury.

If it's done to stop corrupt police, then whatever.
