Computer parts suggestions pls
That one octa-core AMD processor I don't remember the name of + Radeon RX-480, or GeForce GTX 1060 + Intel i5 processor? I'm currently leaning to the GTX 1060 + the i5.

Three of them actually.

The 1060 and the i5.

I'm hoping to upgrade to a 1060 or 70 myself sometime soon™.

Which i5 are you looking at BTW?

Intel Core i5 6500 3.20 GHz Quad Core Skylake Desktop Processor, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache

Intel Core i5-6500(K) is a good CPU. If you don't have $200, I understand that the AMD FX-8300 is a decent middle-range CPU.

At that price, he could get an 8370 (or even a 9370 if his PSU has enough juice). Though I still wouldn't recommend going AMD for a CPU.

EDIT: Oh, and make sure you get a 6GB 1060. You'll regret it if you go for the 3GB model.

8300 is in the ~$100 price range, the 8370 & 9370 are closer to the i5-6500 price of $200 or so.

AMD for low to mid, Intel for higher. Which is why I suggested the 8300 as the cheaper option. The Piledriver family has come an long way since they were introduced.

Yeah, though I usually just ask my brother about good parts since he's essentially an expert. But I'm still a bit torn between the two options presented above.

An argument can definitely be made for both the GTX 1060 and the RX-480. But you're not going to find an AMD CPU in the desktop market that can match the i5-6500.

I think the 8gb RX480 trumps the 1060 in the future due to DX12, but that might not manifest true, depending on developers. You can't SLI the 1060 either, but you can crossfire two RX480s (which I am about to do soonish).

Regarding CPU - don't even bother with AMD. Simple but sad truth.
