I used to think that backstabbing is equivalent kritzkriegged facestabs
Come to think I was wrong?
So how exactly does it work? What happens to a soldier with the battalion's backup? Does the knife neglect the resistance and manage to pop a crit from the back?

I've noticed how backstabbing damage varies from the class your backstabbing. Most damage dealable is on the heavy. I'm thinking maybe it's their health, but is it like a 300-500% damage bonus from the back? I don't understand.

Funny enough to mention, every stab you make in humiliation time after the round has the backstabbing animation whilst just normally face stabbing with crits.

The damage you deal with a backstab is 6x times of your enemy's current health.

For example, you backstab a Scout who's at 1 HP and you deal 6 damage because 6x1HP=6

Wait, isn't it about the max health?

I've never seen a knife deal 6 damage at a backstab.

No,it's not. If you have damage numbers on, you probably have seen numbers which don't end on 0 when you backstab someone, which means it does 6x times the enemy's CURRENT HP.
And if you visit the wiki, you'll read the same.

Does this mean that you can somehow survive a backstab with enough damage resistance?

Spy was a mistake.

^^^^^^^

Also Zenock, Im not sure if resistances stack, but eitherway getting backstabbed is an unescapable death. if you have one hp as a heavy, and get backstabbed by a spy, the knife will deal will 6 dmg. If you crit resist it with the battalion's backup you'll do two damage. With the 35% resistance, you'll negate the damage to -35% of its original, that would be 1.30 dmg points if I got that right. But that's still enough to kill you, if resistances DO stack, then spinning up Natasha would reduce the damage to 1.04, and it's rounded to 1.

What if the moment the damage was dealt, you were also healed?

Imagine the Pre-uber Phlog though, if you (somehow) lose 174 hp while taunting, getting buffed with a battalion and if resistances DO stack, then you might be able to escape the backstab. 6 without crits is 2. 105 110% resistance on that would be... 0 dmg dealt?

Pre-nerf dead ringer survived backstabs.

If you got hit first, you die, if you get healed first, the damage of the backstab increases to your current hp.

Guaranteed kill.

This is all very confusing.

Phlog before uber had 75% damage resistance from all sources while taunting.

Battalion's backup has35% damage resistance from all sources and crit resistance

Do they stack though?

Well ArraySeven told me Vaccinator charges between multiple medics don't stack so Id assume neither does this.

Maybe it just focuses on the higher resistance you have.

But stuff like the Vaccinator 10% damage resistance cancel out the 10% bullet vulnerability from the pain train
