Pop is just boring. Nothing interesting happening there. The actual music (not the lyrics) is generally catchy though, and in my mind if you do that you've made a decent enough song.
Rap is a god awful wasteland, I can count the number of good mainstream rappers that exist right now on a single hand with a couple fingers missing.
Country is horrifyingly terrible. I didn't even like country before but somehow they made it so much worse.
Metal is pretty good nowadays actually, it seems to be making a comeback of sorts with veteran bands and artists making new really good albums as well as new arrivals making great first impressions.
