It's a Grand Strategy game which takes place from 1444-1821 (Covers the whole world). It's sort of a simulator in a way as it has quite a lot of complex mechanics to it from war stuff, diplomacy and trade as well as the administration of each country - at any given time there could be 100s of countries in the game - I believe there's between 400-500 in total, which covers most that exist between that timeframe. An expansion pack to the game added a feature which allows you to create custom nations a bit easier so instead of the historical timeline and you can make up your own and change pretty much every aspect of the country and put it wherever.

I tried Europa Univ but its way too complex. Civ 5 is kinda okay for me
