A great first step is to remove swearing, and ensure that the content you're trying to talk about towards a new player helps them learn about whatever franchise you're talking about. In essence, be mature and informative.
I suppose it also helps to be tolerant to people new to games and franchises. If you feel that you may be a bit salty towards what someone is saying, perhaps the best thing would be not to type it out.
