PENNSYLVANIA: Authorities have been searching the home of a Pennsylvania man accused of sexually assaulting a teenager whose parents police say gave her to him when she was 14 because he helped them financially. She was one of a dozen girls living in the residence.


Officials in Bucks County on Thursday found 51-year old Lee Kaplan at his Feasterville home, along with 12 girls ranging in age from six months to 18 years. One girl, now 18, told police that Kaplan has two kids with her — a 3-year-old and a six-monthold. Kaplan faces charges, including statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and aggravated indecent assault. Parents of the teenager — Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus — have been charged with conspiracy of statutory sexual assault and children endangerment.

1975: JAWS RELEASED

On this day in 1975, Jaws, a film directed by Steven Spielberg that made countless viewers afraid to go into the water, opens in theaters. The story of a great white shark that terrorizes a New England resort town became an instant blockbuster and the highest-grossing film in movie history until it was bested by 1977’s Star Wars.

Jaws was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Picture category and took home three Oscars, for Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Sound. The film, a breakthrough for director Spielberg, then 27 years old, spawned three sequels.

Now Valve front man Gabe Newell has weighed in on the matter through an email posted to the Vive subreddit, in which he was asked whether Valve ever considered doing the same for its Vive headset. (Newell confirmed with
us that he did in fact send this email.)

“We don't think exclusives are a good idea for consumers or developers. There's a separate issue which is risk. On any given project, you need to think about how much risk to take on. There are a lot of different forms of risk—financial risk, design risk, schedule risk, organizational risk, IP risk, etc... A lot of the interesting VR work is being done by new developers. That is a triple-risk whammy—a new developer creating new game mechanics on a new platform. We're in a much better position to absorb financial risk than a new VR developer, so we are happy to offset that giving developers development funds (essentially pre-paid Steam revenue). However there are no strings attached to those funds—they can develop for the Rift or PlayStation VR or whatever the developer thinks are the right target VR systems. Our hope is that by providing that funding that developers will be less likely to take on deals that require them to be exclusive.

We've seen trailers for Titanfall 2's multiplayer and campaign modes, but as is the case with most trailers, they're adorned with dramatic music and edited into a teasing montage of impressive kills. But now, thanks to YouTuber Titanfall Legends, we've got nearly four minutes worth of raw multiplayer footage – though it's still chopped up into discreet moments.

Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention to the previous trailers, but this footage shows that the grappling hook will be a more crucial traversal tool than I'd initially thought: you'll be able to swing to the top of tall buildings and, towards the end of the video, you can see a pilot suspend in the air for a moment as he takes out foes.
