Iran says that Briton tried to overthrow regime

A British mother who has been held in an Iranian jail since April was 'seeking to overthrow the regime', the country's elite Revolutionary Guard have claimed.
Charity worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was accused of being 'involved in the soft overthrow of the Islamic republic through... her membership in foreign companies and institutions' - a charge her husband Richard Ratcliffe has dismissed as ridiculous.
Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who holds dual British-Iranian nationality, was arrested at Tehran airport on April 3 as she prepared to return to Britain with her two-year-old daughter after visiting family in Iran.

Hollande threatens ban on protests after Paris clash

President Francois Hollande has proposed to ban demonstrations in France, according to his presidential spokesman, who said that at a time when the country is plagued by terrorism, the conditions are not in place to protect “personal or public property."
"At a time when France is hosting the Euro 2016 [football tournament], when it is faced with terrorism, demonstrations can no longer be authorized if property, people and public property cannot be safeguarded," Hollande told a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, according to his spokesman Stephane Le Foll, AFP reported.
“The condition under which a manifestation is authorized is a subject of discussion between the organizers and the authorities representing the state,” Le Foll said.
"If the conditions are not in place to protect personal or public property, and as thhings stand now they are not, decisions are currently being made case-by-case not to allow the protests," he added.

Undergraduates have complained that they are being given too many essays - with some saying they are expected to write three every week.
They say work loads at the university are unevenly spread as other students on the same courses submit just one essay in the timeframe.

Germany warns refugees against polygamy

BERLIN: Germany will not recognize polygamy or marriages involving minors, its justice minister said on Tuesday, as concern rises over such cases amid a record influx of refugees, many from Muslim countries.

"No one who comes here has the right to put his cultural values or religious beliefs above our law," said justice minister Heiko Maas in an interview with Bild daily. "Therefore no polygamous marriages will be recognized in Germany."

Under Islamic law, men are allowed to take up to four wives.
