Back when the plot was somewhat understandable and it wasn't flooded with sequels.

Finished? Naw mate, never managed to do a 100% on them.

The ones I played were before 3D graphics were invented though.

Might be. I lost track of the FF games I played due to the huge amount of sequels it had. However, I'm pretty sure I started with FF2 (If that is the one that had a steampunk setting).

Quite honestly, I don't, since the only few I've played was FF3 on SNES and FF7 on the PS1, which to be frank, I can't find myself getting into RPG games, though I can see why people like them.
