They're holding a retrial

He's probably going to fry. Metaphorically.
It also appears he simply had a really good legal team. Remember folks, a judge and jury have to play by the rules and the evidence presented, not whether they think the act was "right" or "wrong" in their own opinion.

Can't prove consent? Retrial.
Also:

Immigrant rapes an immigrant.

The narratives are all f*cked up.

So basically age of consent works differently in that country

Whats interesting is that even though the boy suffered mentally and physically, the rapist isn't being charged for it on that count. Essentially it's because they couldn't prove he said no? That is pretty peculiar, and you'd think getting PTSD from it would warrant that he definitely did not consent

Even still, his legal team is probably just trying to ease up the verdict, or shorten his sentence. He's still being held in prison until 2017, where he'll be retried.

The age of consent in Austria is 14.
