Let's discuss an issue of the game industry
Female characters.
Sexualized to the point when:
-games that depict women as not instantly bangable are bashed for it
-young men have unrealistic expectations of women and end up never getting married or procreating
-young women try to reach those expectations, fail and feel bad about it
-character development is thrown out the window for the sake of looks

I would ask you not to corelate this thread with my actions in a thread made by robomagon and instead, let's discuss the issue, not my point of view

As long as the sexualization fits the character I don't care, otherwise it's completely unneccessary.
That's their fault for lacking common sense.
Look above.
Look up a few sentences.

If you can not separate game from reality than you don't deserve to get married in the first place

If you base your expectations for real life off your video game experiences then there is something very wrong.

Also I don't think there's anything wrong with eye candy unless it actively detracts from the game.

Should we just go back to the prime example, Tomb Raider?

I don't think this is at all limited to the gaming industry. Or women.
Characters, actors, models, and singers are all more popular when they look like what their audience wants to look like themselves. Or what they want their partner to look like.

The original plan for Tomb Raider was actually to have a male protagonist. And as sexualized as she was, Lara did pave the way for every female main character to follow.

I mean, that's not true for all female characters. I'm going to have to use Tali here because she's such a great example.

We never see her out of her suit through all 3 mass effects, hell the only way he know what she looks like is a photograph she leaves in shepherd's cabin if you romance her. So she really can't be sexualised at all or you'll be breaking the lore. Yet so many players love her, second most popular romance after Liara, purely because of her personality. That is how you make a memorable female character. Not just slapping on a big pair of tits and a skimpy outfit.
