Several reasons:

*Valve being unable to fix even obvious balance issues
*Terrible optimization, i mean fuck. The source engine isn't the best engine in the world, but all other games that run on it get consistant FPS.
*Boring new content
*Removal of pubs, the way i prefered to play TF2
*It's becoming more and more like CS, which it shouldn't
*Too many fucking toxic players. It's a problem with almost every multiplayer game, but even more so in TF2

Shit updates showed how little valve cared about the game
got bored of the stuff already in the game
got tired if the community's shit
Better alternative became avalible ie Overwatch
My friends stopped playing it
