Shouldn't logistics be more important?

Wouldn't maths be useful for logistics as well?

I have no idea what's actually involved in artillery, but I happen to know that ballistics and artillery tends to draw people who excel in maths and computing.

Eh, if we're talking about field artillery, computing is not that useful. Computing is not that useful because electronics are not that reliable yet so not much is used (Though they are being improved) but for maths, I cannot be sure.

Without computers, aren't you going to have to do the gun laying calculations manually?
