Con's proper petition to Open FRC's Borders.
I hate it when Pigeon doesn't actively update a thread.
I'm going to make my own so I can archive ASAP.
This is to prevent any miscounting in here.

Arguments in favor of opening the borders of FRC
Originally posted by dino_inc:
Actually, I'd like to change my vote to yes. FRC is slowly dying, and :
Case 1:
It goes well, the group becomes more active, and it doesn't get spammed. (And Luyan gets in, settling that issue)

Everybody wins.

Case 2: Spammers get in, the discussion quality goes down for a few days, and the group is made invite only again.

Nothing changes.

Case 3: We get raided, the mods are forced to moderate, and the group becomes invite only again. There is now definite proof that opening it is bad, with little lasting consequences, settling the issue.

Nothing changes, except perhaps a bit stronger group identity due to half the members satisfied that we tried out their idea.

Case 4 (If the petition is denied): The people who wish it to be open still protest and the group becomes even more divided. FRC continues its downward spiral and dies in a few months.

Everybody loses, FF no longer has a scapegoat to make fun of at every moment and those who are FRC regs no longer have an active group, fracturing the community.

Overall, this can't be a negative change, as either nothing changes or FRC becomes more active. Sure, quality might go down, but some activity > no activity.

The current system won't guarantee long-term longevity in terms of activity and whatnot.
Consider how the group has been culling itself from inside and out due to in-fighting.
Opening the group's borders will provide activity, diversity, and heal the old wounds.
However, I feel like that your argument in favor of keeping itself closed off is wrong.
I mean like, obviously there's no standards set for whoever is going to be invited.
It's way harder for the mods to take action when people gets someone voted in.
This is because they'll have to put up with every other person who voted 'em in.
Meanwhile, groups like Forum Filth has always been open from the very start.
All that we ever needed to go do was to enforce the rules, like everyone else.
Forum Filth has never had any problems with alt-accounts, or any evasions.
All that the group has ever done was keep on growing, while this one dies.
It is dying because of the fixed user-count, because the group isn't open.

Like i said in Pidgeon's thread, no. It'll only result in FF users coming in and spamming the living shit out of us.

Ban the ones breaking rules.
FF will ban people who raid from their group.
This won't ever happen.

Fair enough, but one part of me still fears for possible consequences.

I'm a mod in FF, so I'll make sure I'll do my job.
So, is it a yes or no?

How do you not understand the existence of the ban button
Even if they bring alts that's 5$ a pop

Except they'd just keep on making alts, so what's the point?

People don't have infinite money
It takes 5$ to make an alt and 5 clicks to ban it
Even if there's a hudred alts (500$) then just promote more mods and ban em even faster

It's a Forum Regular group.
Not a private social clique.

If people bypass bans to make alt-accounts, then they'll get community banned.
The Steam Mods are also at the community's disposal, too.

Except the steam mods are notoriously bad and often doesn't ban even obvious rule breakers.

The only way they'd get notice of them is mass reports.
