There were certainly new games that deleted files and drained bank accounts of cancer patients trying to get money for their charity so they could get an operation.
But TF2 is and always will be safe.

Of course long time TF2 veterans, but f2ps might have chosen to stay free, so thats still a toss up.
Those that happen to have just the right weapon will obviously do better, especially if they have practiced. Still anyone's game here.

Free2plays can't chat(or its severely limited now, mostly restored?) so p2p's win because they 'can' coordinate, not that they choose to do so though.

Steam is actually the first modern digital games storefront, Gabe Newell launched Steam and beat Microsoft and EA to it by just a few years.

Valve started because Microsoft saw no benefit to improving graphics for games in Windows. they let Gabe and the other founder leave to start Valve and tried to forget them.
It wasn't until after their success that Microsoft decided that videogames are a thing now.
