They probably can't afford to do anything fancy this year with the scandal of WarZ, the coal-farming of last year, improving Big Picture mode, Introducing the Steam Market, secretly working on Half-Life TwoPlusOne, Giant robotic Engineer for MvM... Those aren't small things.

The first natural selection is a free mod installed on top of Half-Life(The First one). I recommend you get Half-Life for all the different games you can add to it. NS1 is pure fun.
NS2 is even better, but of course now it costs money.
One little note on the store page, it requires a video card with 1GB of vram. My 512MB card can't do it, you need an entire GB.
