One way to ruin gaming is to make a job out of it.
Start by identifying which games are actually beatable with a conclusion/resolution/etc and turn your focus onto those games.
Then plan what skill trees and story plot elements need to happen so that you can face the final boss, etc. Put those items on a calendar and stick to it. Then finish the game and start analyzing the next game.
After about 3 of these you should feel the need to step away from gaming for at least a month and fill your mind with other stuff(like college courses).
After your finals use gaming as a reward for yourself.

The moment the Soviet Union broke those countries just became independent neighbors to Russia. There is no return that even can happen unless these neighbors without coercion decide they want to join Russia. And given that Russia is shooting cruise missiles at all their neighbors thats not likely to happen.
