The other important part of simply having the code AND being able to build it(or your own modifications yourself) is that you can send your suggestions back to the maintainer for them to put directly into the public code. If you're good enough then you can become the 'official' maintainer of the code. This also includes the Linux kernel itself if you feel ready for that, though Linus himself is the perpetual maintainer of the kernel code.

Linux is used by serious businesses as well as silly cat-boys. Just like Windows and Macintosh... and the 30+ other operating systems you've never heard about.
Its just another tool in the toolbox. Its just built differently than all the others. That doesn't make it "bad" or a psyop. I suspect the psyop theory came from the upper management of Microsoft, but we can dive into that another day.

I give everyone the opportunity to present their ideas before deciding if they're bad ideas. Very few times do I decide the person is bad. I just usually think that at least one of us is misinformed and then move on. I'm not the one who wants to be your enemy.
