If you're running the windows version of steam under wine I highly recommend you copy over all your real windows fonts into the Wine C:\Windows\Fonts\ folder or everything will look blocky.
But as you're not even seeing those perhaps its something to do with the linux beta version of steam. Or your video card drivers aren't installed (complete with control panel, etc).
Is this in Steam's "normal" or "Big Picture" mode? Flip it back and forth once because maybe its just a visual glitch that hasn't been ironed out yet.

I'd like to see a mini-youtube within steam itself so we don't get "other" things when searching for game reviews/playthroughs, demonstrations of random GMOD toys, or upcoming products.
(Also watching so-called tough-guys break down into tears and pissing themselves playing Amnesia is highly entertaining)
I think most people would appreciate nostalgia (like Mario mods) but would like HOW-TO videos for making our own.

That Phloggy looks kind of weird. Are you running at a high enough level of detail and screen resolution? Might be your video card isn't large enough to do proper rounding of objects. Check the options and advanced options screens from the title screen menu for graphics settings. If your hardware is light years beyond the minimum system requrements on the store page then the problem is software (Either an OS setting or something in the game).

Don't give up. You can craft that item if you have the ingredients. Don't have to wait for drops.

I just installed the original counter-strike(steam version). It doesn't seem to have one of those obvious folders or first-time installers.

So lets start troubleshooting counter-strike.

Perhaps your game has been set to D3D mode and its not letting you back in to switch it to OpenGL or Software.
Put -autoconfig in the launch options and launch and exit once, then remove -autoconfig so it doesn't reset your graphics every time you start it. Then you can at least get to the graphics settings again. Once you have it running, don't set it to D3D unless by magic it works. Otherwise you'll have to reset again.

Lets start with what game you're trying right now. Then I can tell you where.

Your steam account doesn't appear to be VAC banned. You would be allowed on most servers no problem if you could get your game to start.

The problem is therefore in your computer or your internet connection.
Go find the game folder and look for the Microsoft redist installers (these ran automatically when you first ran the game). Re-run and then try the game again from your game library list.

Have these games worked before on this particular machine? Check the hardware requirements of one game and if you meet or exceed them and that particular game doesn't work come back here for more random help.

If you know your hardware you can tell us in advance (do not tell passwords, usernames) and what game you're trying. There is also a sub-forum for each game, so maybe look there for your answer too.

Perhaps exchanging this in a TF2 or steam trade window isn't enough.
You obviously can't test that now with this guy. Once you go premium there's no going back.
Also, I never purchased the upgrade item nor traded anybody and I have a speks with 2 people on it. I have no idea who they are/were either.

I don't usually alter stuff in the quote block. That is quite a mess. Glad it types it for me. I do wonder if you typed some other number there, would the forum correct itself or go link to the other person?

Perhaps the thread you were writing in got locked or deleted. You won't know about an "unknown problem" until you save your change (and fail)
