Can I appeal my game ban?
No. Game bans cannot be appealed and are not removed from accounts.
Based on available information, the exact number of VAC bans that have been definitively shown to be incorrect and subsequently overturned is not publicly disclosed by Valve. However, several documented incidents provide insight into the scale of such reversals.
In July 2010, approximately 12,000 players were incorrectly banned from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due to a Steam DLL update, and these bans were later revoked.
Another incident in October 2023 involved users of AMD graphics cards whose accounts were banned in Counter-Strike 2 due to the "Anti-Lag+" driver feature; Valve pledged to unban affected users after AMD withdrew the update.
Additionally, in October 2023, Valve also issued bans to users for playing on Windows 7 and for high mouse DPI settings, which were subsequently undone.
One community discussion on Steam forums cited a figure of 4,300 accounts that had been unbanned due to being applied incorrectly, based on tracked statistics, which would represent a small fraction (slightly under 0.13%) of the 3.4 million banned accounts tracked at that time.
Another source mentions a database suggesting around 1,900 reversals, though this data is noted to be inaccurate and not up-to-date.
The Steam community has also reported on other specific cases where bans were reversed, such as the 2010 Modern Warfare 2 incident and the 2016 issue involving file signatures.
While these documented cases indicate that false positives do occur, Valve does not provide a public, comprehensive count of all overturned bans. The company maintains that VAC is highly accurate, with a very low rate of false positives, and that the system is designed to minimize such occurrences.
These figures are probably just a drop in the ocean... Valves reputation for secrecy and denial and their total disregard for the rights of their consumers is LEGENDARY!!!
LoL this is totally the place for these types of discussion... Steam is a brick wall... You'll get zero feedback... Sounds like communism to me...
YOU ARE GAME BANNED. Nothing to do with VAC ......
