Going on 22 years now...
I want the required, at that time, email address as a username scrubbed from my account.

1) The email address/account that I was "forced" to create my initial steam account with was hi-jacked years ago. The provider even said "you are ♥♥♥♥ out of luck, Buddy".

2) If anyone thinks that I can provide a picture or a copy of an installation key from physical media, in this day and age...?

3) Sending my CC number as verification, in plain text just as this message right now, won't fly either. Why would anyone think this is ok to even ask?

Whom is at the helm? What is going on?

If you are required to provide proof of ownership then you need to provide proof that you are the owner of the account.

1) this is why you should always keep your information up to date.
2) Some users still have their original product first activated so they are able to provide this as irrefutable proof.
3) Sending historic bank details through secure means is entirely safe.

request denied, this is the community forum

ask steam support but they will require you to provide proof like a cdkey from 20 years ago etc
1) How do you think I have access to my account now?
2) Some reps then need to look further into details before engaging.
3) Plain text...read. The last means of "fixing" this was to give banking details through non-secure means.

If you have an inactive email on your account then you really need to fix that. There are no Steam reps - the system is what it is and it works for tens of thousands of hijacked accounts each week. Of course it's plain text - your historic and useless partial bank information needs to be assessed that it's correct.

Thank you for the conformation. That...very, sad, confirmation.
1. Historical proof will remain on the account. You don't need access to it to provide proof though.

2. I do, yes.

3. They don't need the full card number nor ask for the full card number. Just the last 4 digits, name and billing address.

And Valve did, for a short time, allow users to swap that out for an account name but stopped that not long after.

Just make a new account, this is the main reason majority of my daily playing games aren't even on steam incase I get locked out or banned. Only thing I loose is a profile that I can easily recreate with wallet power. Sometimes is better to move on also and let go.

Don't always get what we want. The email isn't changeable, and its unlikely to be changeable. You've lived with it for 22 years and you managed to survive. The only option is you can choose to delete your account which will scrub and remove that data.

Look and try to find how to delete your account. Just look for a way to.

Top right corner of the client, click your name, select Account Details and scroll down to the bottom.

I've already done once before. Logged back into my account 60-90 days after.

I'm still here, for better or worse.
