Steam in Arabic - Is it finally happening?
I was scrolling in an Arabic Discord community that is interested in Valve games and Steam and all these good things, until I noticed someone saying that they apparently found an Arabic page of the Steam store and community

https://store.steampowered.com/about/Steam?l=arabic

Is it finally happening after all these years? Arabic language in the Steam store and client? :steamhappy: What are your thoughts on this?

Thank you !! :) I been really waiting for this for a long time now, well I hope it's finally happening...
I doubt it would be much harder to implement than Chinese, as long as Steam is aware of the desire and there is enough of a customer base to justify all the work involved, there is no reason it can't be done. You still might post your desire in the suggestion forum, a little visibly is better to show there is a demand.

Thank you!! I hope that they will implement it soon... The gaming community in Arabic countries is indeed big, and we hope to see our favorite platform finally translated the way we want it to be :sans:

As there are Arabic speakers present within the thread. Having long noted how Arabic resembles cursive in English. I have to wonder does Arabic come in two written versions. Arabic looks hard to write if your calligraphy skills are week. Curious to see if it comes in a print equivalent as well.

Arabic doesn’t really have two versions like English (print vs cursive). The script is always “connected,” but each letter changes shape a little depending on whether it’s at the start, middle, or end of a word (or written alone).

For example, the letter ب (“b” sound) looks like this:

Alone: ب

At the start of a word: بــ

In the middle: ــبــ

At the end: ــب

So the style may look like cursive to English speakers, but this is just the normal way Arabic works... There are also different fonts, some simple and easy to read, others more decorative and calligraphic. :undyne:

Upon further reading on the subject this nuance alone. Seems to have held Arabic speakers back significantly. Whereas English has done away with entire letters, and even cursive itself seems to be going out of fashion. All in the name of ever increasing expediency. Arabic it seems has done the exact opposite. One wonders if history will repeat itself.
